Important Announcement About 2020 Heritage Days
The Philipsburg Heritage Days Committee announced on Friday, April 17th that Philipsburg Heritage Days scheduled for July 7th through July 12th has been canceled due to the health hazard regarding the corona-virus.
The decision to cancel Philipsburg Heritage Days, along with festivals in State College that are held at the same time, was reached after several meetings with representatives from the 4th Fest, Arts Festival and People’s Choice Festival with the assistance of the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau.
Fritz Smith, the President and CEO of Happy Valley Adventure Bureau, stated that over 300,000 people from all over the world attend these events. The Philipsburg Heritage Days had over 35,000 people attend their event with 28 states identified and with guests from Italy and the U.K.
Philipsburg Heritage Days is known as the time when people visit the area for class reunions, family reunions, church homecoming activities and weddings. Also large crowds of people from many states enjoy the great parade, Drum and Bugle Corps Show and fantastic fireworks at Cold Stream Dam.
Heritage Days is also the time when many exhibitors, food vendors and many organizations take advantage of the large crowds to make sales that fund many programs for the coming year.
The Philipsburg Heritage Days Committee would like to thank the representatives from the 4th Fest, Arts Festival, People’s Choice Festival and representatives from the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau for their great assistance and understanding in making this decision.
We would also like to thank all the people who support our event along with the financial support from many companies and individuals who provide funds for sponsorship of our many events. WE WILL BE BACK NEXT YEAR BIGGER AND BETTER THAN BEFORE.
We will hold our celebration next year, July 6th through July 11th and our theme will be “Be True To Your School” honoring the Philipsburg-Osceola Area School District. Thank you again for your support and understanding.
