Folk Art Form of Storytelling by Jan Kinney

Location: Trinitiy United Methodist Church, Reed Hall

Jan KinneyCenClear will introduce children and their families to the folk art form of storytelling during the 20 th anniversary of Heritage Days in downtown Philipsburg. Storyteller Jan Kinney will provide two one-hour performances on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church on Front St. in Philipsburg. The performances will be held in Reed Hall in the basement of the church.

Award winning storyteller, Jan Kinney has a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science and English and a Master’s Degree in Education. Jan has been performing professionally for over 25 years. She studied her art with some of the greatest storytellers in Ireland and Wales. Locally, she initiated the summer ghost story sessions at Baker Mansion and the monthly storytelling programs at the Altoona Library. She also co-founded Stories 'n Motion, a storytelling and modern dance collaboration; is an author/producer of 5 CD's and self - published book; is a published poet with performances; and has appeared at many major storytelling festivals in the Eastern United States. She has been in the National Congress of Storytelling and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts Artists-in-Education Directory since 1992, offering a variety of storytelling programs, class visits, and workshops for adults and children.
