Letter from the Committee Chair

On behalf of the Philipsburg Heritage Days Committee, I welcome you to the home page of Philipsburg Heritage Days. Philipsburg Heritage Days celebrates the many varied treasurers of our community.  From the beautiful historical buildings in the downtown area to the beautiful Victorian homes that line South Centre Street, Philipsburg has many treasures to explore.

Philipsburg Heritage Days 2010 will begin on Tuesday, July 6 with the annual Vesper Services. Downtown activities begin on Wednesday, July 7 and will run through Sunday, July 11.  This year we will be celebrating the 13Th annual celebration of Heritage Days.  Each year the Heritage Days Committee chooses a theme that will be used throughout the celebration which highlights one of the many assets of our community.  This year, our theme is "Remember When."

As our town continues to grow and change, we find that many of our residents are unaware of the many businesses that at one time called Philipsburg home.  Do you remember the Philipsburg Brewery, Reed's Mill, did you know there were several hotels in the area and also Philipsburg was a main stop on the New York Central Railroad.  We had our own bottling works called Booths and Shontz that served up that great cherry, birch beer, grape, orange and lemon lime soda.  Those buildings and businesses don't exist today, but can you name the businesses that are now located on these sites?  Keep checking our website and we will be posting some of the pictures and you can test your knowledge.

Heritage Days has become one of the premier community celebrations that is held in Central Pennsylvania.  Many families, high school classes and organizations have chosen Heritage Days as the time to hold their family reunions, class reunions and even weddings.

We hope you enjoy reliving the events of prior Heritage Days by visiting the various options on our website.  If you are a food vendor or a craft vendor, applications are available for downloads, along with contact us to answer all the questions you may have.

We hope you will make plans to visit Philipsburg Heritage Days, enjoy the fine food, great crafts and entertainment and most of all discover the many historic assets of our community.   We hope you will continue to support our endeavors by becoming a member of our committee, providing financial support or by attending the many events that are planned.

Visit Philipsburg Heritage Days and discover our town of Philipsburg, Pa.
